Blog Shout Out: Food Fight

I'll be posting later about one of my favorite cooking-related sites, Tastebook.com, but first I must give a shout out to my friend Jon and his blog, Food Fight.

As a healthy eater with the largest sweet tooth imaginable, it is difficult to ignore the temptation of sweets found everywhere. I live in Boston, MA. The North end is notorious for it's amazing bakeries (Mike's Pastry and Modern Bakery being two of my favorites). There is also an amazing place in the South End called Flour. And of course, I must mention the creperie about five minutes from my apartment! With all of these "from scratch" tempting treats, who could even look at anything bought at a grocery or drug store?

Yeah, I still do. Two of my guilty pleasures come in my two favorite seasons:

Fall: Candy Corn. I don't know what it is about those nutritionally lacking, corn shaped treats. Oh wait, yes I do, they're made with honey.

Spring: Those mini, candy-coated Cadbury eggs that come in pastel colors. Again, no nutritional value, but so so good.

Everything in moderation. Why completely starve yourself of something you love? If you're like me, you'll get fed up and binge on the stuff - definitely less healthy than having a little whenever you crave it. Again, moderation.

Back to Food Fight.

Jon wrote an incredibly humorous post yesterday about his disgust with Peeps. You know, those almost-stale neon sugar coated marshmallow candies in the shape of bunnies, chicks, and now many other things for every holiday imaginable (right now they're pumpkins and ghosts). I have to say that I couldn't agree more with his sentiments. Sorry to those of you who love them - more for you!

In general, Food Fight boasts a witty, highly entertaining writing style that you're sure to enjoy. You should definitely check it out via the link above in this post or in my Blog List.

Stay tuned later today for talk about Tastebook.com. Definitely worth getting to know this product!
