The place is called Zaftigs. It is a Jewish Deli/Restaurant in Brookline, MA & is a must-try for anyone living in or visiting Boston! They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, Sunday brunch being one of their most popular times. I've waited over an hour on a late Sunday morning before! However, it is quite worth it :).

Why? - you might ask. Here are a number of reasons for you to check it out:
One: They have AMAZING challah french toast. Anywhere that can make a good challah bread is aces in my book. I have a terrific recipe (right Kristen? - my #1 challah fan) that I will share with you in the coming weeks. Zaftigs makes a great challah, though. They also make challah stuffed with banana french toast. D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S. Ridiculously high in calories though...so this is a special occasion treat only for me.

Two: They make their own bagels. Yes, bagels are delicious, but this is not why I love the way they relate to Zaftigs. When the day is done, they have a very clever bagel recycling system. They use their left over bagels to make bagel chips for their lunch & dinner diners! And, they're AMAZING! Have you ever had cinnamon raisin or onion bagel chips? If not, you should try them :).

Three: They all wear t-shirts with very clever sayings on them. These include: "Get Latke", "Happy Challadays", "almost kosher", and "kugel me". Clever, right? You can buy them at the restaurant...
Four: Yes, they have dessert - tons of baked goods that are really tasty :)!

You may also be wondering why in the world they call the restaurant "Zaftigs". Even if you weren't, the reasoning is pretty cool :).
Zaftig (adj): (of a woman) having a pleasantly plump figure; full-bodied; well-proportioned.

With all of the magazines, television shows & media attention on the desire to be thin, it is refreshing to see a popular business promoting a healthy, normal figure.

Jennifer,
Thank you soooo much for your comment on my blog. I have a huge fondness for ALL things Boston as we have big connections to Massachusetts (so of course I will add you to my faves). We have big time relatives & friends in the Wooster/ South Shore area, as well as Medfield and downtown areas. Hubby went to NEastern and lives in Symphony area. We spend the month of July in the South Shore every year.
Congrats on the new blog, and it looks like you're doing a terrific job so far :)
Hi Jennifer! Of course you can link Down Home Dieting on your blog. I'll do the same with yours.
My husband and I love Boston! We lived in Salem for 4 years.
