Two of my closest friends from college, Tom and Alexa, got married at the end of this past July. Pretty much the most awesome couple I've ever known :). Alexa is one of my best girlfriends, so when figuring out with the other bridesmaids what to do for her as a send off gift, I knew it had to be original & special.
A few months earlier, my boss at work introduced me to the most awesome site ever: Tastebook.com. This site allows you to build your very own recipe book. If you're like me, you have selves full of recipe books, each with a few recipes that you've tried and loved. While it's great to refer to these books, I really appreciate any opportunity to put them in one easy, convenient place. Tastebook.com lets you do that - and so much more!
So what how does this site work (you may be wondering)? You design a cover based on the huge selection of templates with awesome food images (I just filled out a survey today for them that suggested they may let you soon upload your own pics! Definitely sign up for their newsletter of updates & new features). You get to title your recipe book & put a quote or special note on the cover describing what cooking means to you, or what the person for whom you're creating the book means to you. You can add your own recipes or choose from a library consisting of recipes from all of the top recipe sites (ex. Epicurious). You can even buy one of their pre-created books.

You choose from recipe books with different numbers of recipes: pricing changes with the number of recipes, though with the number of recipes that I'm sure you all have, I'd suggest the 100 recipe book. You can order extra recipes if you have more than 100, or order a 100 recipe book without adding all your recipes and receive credits to add more as you go. You can also add personal photos to each of your recipes. You categorize each for what type of food/meal they are: sandwich, appetizer, drinks, etc.
For my friend Alexa, all of the women who love her submitted their favorite recipes. We organized them into their proper sections and added pictures of us with Alexa; representations of memories that we had with her.
This is a really great, special, unique site that I cannot recommend enough. The customer service, support and product were impeccable. I'll definitely be using it again.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, Alexa LOVED the gift :).
