Moving on to more important things, my team at work is having a bit of a baseball season celebration in the form of a pot luck. All of the key players are involved: hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, peanuts......I, of course, had to make things way more complicated and creative last night :). I dub my newest creation: Baseball Crunch Time.
Baseball Crunch Time consists of half-sphere shaped rice krispy treats covered in white chocolate & decorated with the all important baseball seam lines, created with a red decorating pen.
While these treats are a bit rich with the addition of the white chocolate, they fit the fall baseball sentiment of Boston while bringing a little extra creativity to the table :).
What you'll need:
6 cups Rice Krispies

4 cups mini marshmallows

3 TBSP butter (I used Blue Bonnet)
melted White Chocolate
decorating Pens

Use the recipe on the back of the Rice Krispy box as your canvas material. Drop the rice krispy/marshmallow/butter mixture in 25 piles on waxed paper.

Once the rice krispy mixture cools on the waxed paper, dust hands in flour (to prevent sticking) and shape the piles into half-spheres.

Cover rounded part of half-spheres in white chocolate. Refrigerate for 10 minutes. Decorate on white chocolate as desired: the stitching was my choice :).

OK, now, those are wicked cute. I live in VT with a Red Sox fan. Unfortunately for him, I was born in NYC and am a die hard Yankee fan. Rough year!!!! But, while I don't cheer for the Sox, per se, I don't cheer against them and I do find I have a couple favs on their team so in the spirit of the game and seeing how freakin' cute these little baseballs are, I'm going to try making them for tomorrow night's game. Thanks for the great post!!!! More! More! More! :-)
Bridging the gap between Sox and Yankees via food.
Haha, thanks Leann! While I am a Sox fan, I do share your sentiment for not cheering against my Yankee friends :)
Let me know how they turn out! I tried a dipping method, but spreading the chocolate with a knife actually worked better...
I would suggest using a food coloring pen for the red lines...using gel icing will smear...though if you don't need to transport them, either would work!
Very creative :)
Hubby is a HUGE Red Sox fan. He jumped around the house like mad when they finally won that last game the other night. I told him.. "honey, it's not the world series," and he said, "yes, but they're on their way!!"
Hey Recipegirl,
Haha - that is awesome. There was a similar feeling in my office the next day :) Gotta love Red Sox fans.
These are super easy to make - let me know if you try it out!
Awesome idea! I will have to try these Philly style!
Thanks Lisa! :)
I've been so busy lately with work & studying, but I've been flagging your blog posts that I want to ready & comment on - promise I'll do that this weekend! :)
I can tell you first hand that these treats not only looked delectable but they were absolutely delicious.
Also, it was the most creative take I have seen on a rice crispie treat. As always, Jen has outdone herself!
What an incredible recipe. So adorable, too. I love the baseball theme, but also wonder if you could adapt this recipe for any kind of sport and season. Volleyball, soccer, tennis, basketball, badminton (okay, maybe that's a stretch)...:)
mmmm, I work with Jenn, and can tell you from a first hand basis that these were delicous and festive! thanks jenn.
Jen, these were amazing and I had 2 and really wanted 4. The white chocolate is such an awesome idea and omg is all I can say. So thank you for bringing them in, yay.
One word...AMAZING!!!!
