Chocolate Crackle Cookies - A Classic!

This is a cookie recipe that I grew up making with my mom. I try to bake from scratch as much as possible, and there are many "from scratch" versions of this cookie, but it never comes out as well as it does if you use a box of devil's food cake mix.

You can use any brand as long as it is an 18 oz Devil's Food Cake mix box. I personally love the Reduced Sugar Pillsbury cake mix.

Back to the cookies, though, these delectable cookies are super easy to make, easy to bake with kids, and just melt in your mouth! They're like little brownie bites covered in powder sugar. Come on, what could be better to satisfy a chocolate craving??

Here's the recipe. It takes a total of 30 minutes from the moment you pull your bowls out of the cupboard to when you're enjoying a tall glass of milk and a couple of these cookies!

Chocolate Crackle Cookies

1 18 oz. box Devils Food Cake mix
1/2 cup "I can't believe it's not butter" (or whatever butter/butter sub. you like)
1/2 cup Egg beaters (or 2 eggs)
1 TBSP water

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Spray 2 standard cookie pans with non-stick spray.

Mix all ingredients together. It helps to melt the butter first. Form batter into small balls & roll in powdered sugar. Place onto baking pans. The cookies spread out just a little, so you can pile them on 4x4 or 4x5 (depending on the size of your cookie pan).

Bake cookies for 8 minutes. Remove from oven & allow to cool. Enjoy with a tall glass of milk!

Oh, and Milo would like you all to know that he oversaw the entire process & it all looks good to him!

We love those kind of cookies around the house. Sometimes we put a Hershey kisses in the middle.

These are too cute!

I have a Milo too, and he LIVES for anything we make with butter. If it's got butter in it, he's in your face, with this wide-eyed PUHLEEEEASE look on his face. He never gets any.. well, almost never.. but yeah :)
