Harpoon Brewery in Boston MA

Last night I went with a bunch of coworkers on a social outing to the Harpoon Brewery in downtown Boston, MA. Each quarter our company encourages each department to go out and experience something non-work related together; a sort of bonding experience - definitely very cool of them!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Harpoon Brewery ended up being one of the best "pod outings" (as we call them) I've been on in my 2 1/2 years here! We participated in something they call the "5:30 club". This experience entails 1 1/2 hours of beer tasting & learning about the brewing process & history of the Harpoon Brand. I'm not a huge beer person, but I really recommend this to anyone who enjoys expanding their pallate.

Now, if you enjoy beer when you go out to bars, you've probably had or at least seen Harpoon's UFO & IPA brand beers, right? You'd be surprised at the plethora of beer they actually brew! Asie from those that you've tried, here are a few that I thought were particularly interesting & delicious!

According to our friendly guide-through-the-beers, to really taste this beer you have to have several glasses. While one of the lower alcohol beers that they brew, it has so many malts & tastes brewed in that you have to taste it several times to experience them all! In fact, every time I sipped this beer I tasted something new!

While I did not try this one, I wanted to include it because of the description we got about it. This was one of the beers they recommended we try last as it totally takes over your pallate. Perhaps one of my coworkers who did try it can comment on this one? I heard comments of it being very strong but very delicious.

For those of you who REALLY don't like beer, Harpoon also makes Cider!

Unlike other ciders that I've tried, this one is not nearly as sweet. Harpoon uses the best quality apples to make their cider amazingly refreshing. They don't add a ton of sugar like most cider brewers do. They ferment the apples (mostly McIntosh) in their own special blend of yeast, and that's it! No preservatives or artificial sweeteners! Delish!

They also make non-alcoholic drinks including some of the most amazing Rootbeer I've ever tried! I highly recommend this!

I'm only skimming the top of all of the beers & brewing knowledge learned last night. Please visit their website to check out more information on all the beers they brew as well as information on how you can experience this for yourself! They have free tastings throughout the day & events that you can attend with groups & parties between 15-40 people (there are other sessions for more people too!)

Digg!

Oh I'd be excited for the cider! Not a beer drinker at all, but cider is perfect... and reminds me of London!

It was really good actually! Much better than Magner's & other's I tried.

I'm not a huge beer person either. However, their raspberry beer was awesome!
